My introduction to IBM's midrange series of systems was back in 1990 as an IBM S/38 operator. Before the close of 1990 I was working on an AS/400 E60. Today, we have the IBMi Power series, and as the machine has evolved, so have my roles and experience.

Most rewarding assignment to date was participating in a telecoms billing systems installation project at a start-up company called diAx Telecommunications (later merged with Sunrise) in Zürich Switzerland. diAx was a joint venture between SBC (USA) and Swiss Utility companies.

Working alongside veterans of telecoms BSS/OSS billing and IT professionals of other system platforms on the implementation of ADC's (Saville) CBP billing system hosted on an IBM iSeries and supported by/interlaced with HP Unix and Windows systems, I quickly gathered a wealth of knowledge and experience concerning the complete lifecyle of the telecoms billing process: Provisioning > Switch > CDR > Mediation > Price Plans > Call Rating > Billing > Reconciliation

Personal project accomplishments consisted of:

·	Implementation of operations department procedures and incident escalation.
·	Team leadership and training of the operations personnel.
·	Implementation and Management of the operations personnel shift schedule (24/7 by 12 operators).
·	Creation of all documentation pertaining to billing operations processes, QA validation checks and incident escalation procedures.
·	Implementation of communications protocols between billing operations and testing teams.
·	Implementation of operations helpdesk support procedures for both live and test billing environments.
·	Acting as billing operations 24/7 SPOC (Single Point Of Contact) for live fixed-line billing, live GSM billing and billing testing teams, ensuring operations SLA's were met.
·	Acting as live billing operations 24/7 SPOC (Single Point Of Contact) for billing system vendor development and support teams as and when ADC/Saville required billing system data or intended implementing billing application program changes.

Personal

My free time is predominantly spent listening to music, reading, and expanding my AS400 knowledge base. And when opportunities coincide with IT contract transitional periods, I resurrect my sideline speciality of installing multiroom audio video systems.
